The Tokyo-Montana Express

New York, NY: Targ Editions, 1979. Limited First Edition. Hardcover. One of 350 copies signed by Richard Brautigan. A late work by counterculture-cult author Richard Brautigan (1935-1984), direct successor/progeny of the Beat Generation & subject of an extensive recent biography by William Hjortsberg. As stated by the author, "this small collection of short stories was written in Tokyo and Montana between 1977 and 1978. The stories are positioned so as to alternate between the two cultures. They are another way of looking at things." One of a limited edition of 350 copies signed by Brautigan, not numbered as issued. There are 20 such very short stories over 28 pages. An exquisite production, stated as Number six of the Targ Editions, designed & handprinted by Leonard Seastone at the Tideline Press in Greenwich Village, NYC. Gray cloth-bound hardcover with glassine wrapper as issued. A very rare Brautigan item. The book itself is in very fine condition, with only some moderate sunning to covers & spine, interior pristine; fragile glassine wrapper-dust jacket is creased & chipped, especially at spine. Very Fine. [Item #1806]
