[Item #2168] The Fair in the Woods. Thom Gunn.

The Fair in the Woods

Oxford, England: Sycamore Press, 1969. First Printing. Single Sheet. A broadside (13"x8") with the title poem by Thom Gunn (1929-2004), the Anglo-American poet originally associated with "The Movement" style along with Philip Larkin et al. in England, & later a pioneer in the exploration of gay themes while residing in San Francisco. The poem is dedicated to Jere Franzway. Issued as Sycamore Broadsheet 6, in what we have seen references to an edition of 500 copies, though there is no mention of this on the item. Originally folded into three panels, with the poem on one side & title, author, publisher's information & a short biography of Gunn on the other. This copy has been unfolded, mounted on stiff board in protective shrinkwrap, with the poem side visible. An important Gunn rarity, in very fine condition with faint vertical creases where folded into thirds. Light dusting of spots & debris on surface of shrinkwrap, not broadside. Very Fine.
