ISBN: 0916156311
Cherry Valley, NY: Cherry Valley Editions, 1978. First Edition. Softcover. "This book is a miscellany: an archive of early strong fragments constellated around Howl between late '50's and early '60's decade; to which are added a number of poems, written & read often in public during the '70's, not included in Mind breaths; and a handful of private Journal pages of public record or interest since they manifest part of the subconscious of a Counter-Culture which likely will mature with meditation in decades to come."(From poet's introduction, September 11, 1978) This is the first softcover edition of this short but important later mid-career compilation by Allen Ginsberg, the founding poet of the Beat Generation. Charles Plymell & his wife, Pamela Beach Plymell, are the publishers of this item through their Cherry Valley Editions. The Plymells, noted cultural & literary figures & close associates of Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs & many others, lived in Cherry Valley, NY very near Ginsberg's farm during this period. A significant Ginsberg collectible. In fine condition with only mild rubbing & spotting of front, back covers & spine; light tanning to edges & margins of same. Interior very fine with only tiniest bumps at corners of page leaves. Fine. [Item #2245]
