The now-classic early collection of poems by the legendary Charles Plymell, an important member of the Beat Generation & beyond as writer, printer & publisher. With the incisive introduction by Allen Ginsberg in which Plymell & friends are declared to have invented the "Wichita Vortex," referring to their origins in Kansas. With vintage photograph of the author in full "Wild One" regalia by Judy Brown on back cover. We obtained this first edition/ first printing (not stated on copyright page) from the estate of James Perrizo (1944-2006), a noted Beat scholar & collector who at one time was the assistant to Edie Parker, Jack Kerouac's first wife. Seven pages in this copy contain underlinings & marginalia by Perrizo in blue ink. We believe that these notations enrich & provide insight from the mind of a learned aficionado- for example, on the second-to-last page of the poem "DECEMBER (Wichita, Kans.)," the word "gaze" in the third line is crossed out, replaced with the word "pray." In the lower margin, Perrizo writes: "to look= to pray." A fascinating version of an essential collectible in the Plymell canon, with distinguished provenance & association. In very fine condition with only mild rubbing, spotting & browning esp. at edges of front, back covers & stapled spine; very light wear, tiny bumps & creases along edges & corners of same. Interior very fine with only faint, short creases near upper corners of some page leaves; hand-written notations noted above. Very Fine. [Item #3050]
