Featuring a groundbreaking essay by Kay Armatage, "Gertrude Stein: The Mother of Us All," about the pioneering avant-garde author; a short essay-commentary by Willard H. Bonner concerning Henry David Thoreau, the iconic American contrarian environmentalist writer; the poem "Left for California: The Slow Awakening" by Eric Mottram (1924-1995), the great British literary figure who was one of the earliest critical biographers of William S. Burroughs; "The Films of Billie Holiday," a hard-to-categorize prose-poem/ essay by John Wieners, the canonical Black Mountain- Beat Generation poet whose name is misspelled as "Weiners" here as frequently occurred; & much more.
