Boston, MA: Boston University, 1975-1976. First Editions. Wrappers. New Series Volume One Numbers 1 & 2; A First International Symposium. Three original volumes from the "New (second) Series" of this most influential literary journal, co-edited by Jerome Rothenberg & published by Boston University. Among the goals of the series was to explore the full range of humanity's poetry, including translations from tribal/oral traditions. Volume One, Number one features, among many other contributions, a flexible 7" record entitled "Jamie de Angulo tells the story of the Gilak Monster", still attached at the back cover, which reproduces a woodblock print of a Gary Snyder poem. Volume One, Number Two also has an attached disc, featuring Anne Waldman reading her poem "Fast Speaking Woman," along with contributions from Snyder, Diane di Prima & many others. The last volume is a record of the First International Symposium on Ethno-Poetics, with contributions from Rothenberg, Snyder & many others, without any disc as issued. All three volumes are completely intact & in near-fine condition, with only very minor wear to front & rear covers & spines, minor crease to upper right edge of Number Two, larger but still minor crease to upper right edge of Symposium volume along with some very minor curling of some interior pages near the rear in the same area. Altogether very well-preserved editions of this important literary series. Near Fine. [Item #1640]
