Toledo, OH: University of Toledo Publications Office, 1989. First Printing. Single Sheet. A long, narrow broadside (11" x 30", as its title states), featuring a story by Jack Kerouac, "I Had A Slouch Hat Too, One Time," with the text surrounding a photograph of a young Kerouac wearing just such a hat. Below the story & explanatory commentary is the announcement of a Kerouac tribute event, "Back to Jack," that was held on October 21, 1989, the 20th anniversary of his death. "First performed in Toledo in 1984 to memorialize the 15th anniversary of Jack Kerouac's death, this reader's theater piece has become an annual event always performed on October 21st. Five men comprise the cast of "Jacks," each of whom dramatizes passages from Kerouac's many works."(from below the announcement) From the collection of the late James Perrizo, Beat scholar, collector & one-time assistant to Edie Kerouac Parker, Jack's former wife. Perrizo most probably attended & therefore purchased this item at the event. A very rare & interesting Kerouac broadside, in near-mint condition with only a very slight crease at lower left corner, & a small hole punched in the middle of the top just below the edge, most likely as issued. There are mild creases at the corners of the board on which this item is mounted in protective shrink wrap, not effecting the broadside itself except as noted above.
Item is currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrink wrap, will be shipped rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #1785]
