London, England: Martin Brian & O'Keeffe, 1973. First Trade Edition. Softcover. The first trade softcover edition of a collection of short tributes to the British poet George Barker (1913-1991) on the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1973. Among twenty of his colleagues, friends & admirers who contribute to this homage is Allen Ginsberg. Ginsberg's hand-written tribute, dated June 7, 1971 & including a drawing & bold signature, is reproduced on an entire page. With a black & white glossy reproduction of a portrait of Barker opposite the title page. A beautiful item produced in the UK with sewn binding, very rare especially with the inclusion of Ginsberg's contribution. In very fine condition with only very slight bumping to corners of front & back covers, top & bottom edges of spine; tiny light ink marks (arrows?) just below "Maurice Carpenter" & to the left of "Oliver Bernard" among list of contributors on back cover; mild rubbing & spotting to edges; otherwise virtually mint inside & out.
