A broadside poster (11"x17") announcing the title Symposium held at Eastern Michigan University during March 25-26, 1988. Clayton Eshleman, acclaimed poet & at this time a professor at EMU, had founded the literary magazine Sulfur, under the auspices of which this Symposium took place, while at the California Institute of Technology in 1981. With images & brief literary biographies of the twelve participants, who included Eshleman & his wife, Caryl, acclaimed poet Jerome Rothenberg, critical biographer Marjorie Perloff & more poets & scholars, many of whom contributed to issues of Sulfur. At the bottom edge, Eshleman has hand-written: "For Jim Perrizo- on Word!/(Signed) Clayton Eshleman 1988" James Perrizo (1944-2006), collector & Beat Generation scholar, knew Eshleman & was a major collector of his works. A very significant relic of Eshleman's (still ongoing) rich literary impact, signed & with important association. In very fine condition, virtually mint.
