Beat Scene No. 45 (Summer 2004)

Warwickshire, England: The Beat Scene Press, 2004. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. This summer 2004 number of the magazine-format literary journal edited & published by Kevin Ring in the UK features an interview conducted by Ring with Greg Keeler on his friendship with Richard Brautigan, resulting in the memoir Waltzing with the Captain. Also a thoughtful essay on Allen Ginsberg by Vojo Sindolic, "Was Allen Ginsberg a Religious Poet?"; an interview with San Francisco Renaissance-associated poet David Meltzer conducted by Ring; "Jack Micheline: Poet of Protest" by Jim Burns; A tribute to writer-publisher Jeff Nuttall (whose 1960s My Own Mag featured many contributions from William S. Burroughs), who had recently died; several articles on Alexander Trocchi by Anna Battista: an interview conducted by Ring with Helen Weaver about her relationship with Jack Kerouac; & more. With many reviews, & as always many photo-illustrations of great Beat writers & their works throughout. Another increasingly scarce earlier issue in this collectible series. In very fine condition with only the slightest rubbing to front, back covers; tiny bumps at corners of covers & top, bottom edges of spine; very slight creasing along part of length of spine; staples beginning to rust. Interior virtually mint except for minor rust noted above. Very Fine. [Item #2151]
