[Item #2213] Big Ass Comics No. 1. Robert Crumb.

Big Ass Comics No. 1

San Francisco, CA: Rip Off Press, June 1969. First Printing (?). Stapled Wrappers. A now-classic production by Robert Crumb from the height of the underground comix era. Crumb's feverish & twisted libido is given free rein in such episodes as "Eggs Ackley among the Vulture Demonesses", "Dale Steinberger: The Jewish Cowgirl" & "All Meat Comics." The hair-splitting scholarship among comix Talmudists is particularly complicated, contradictory & still-ongoing for this item, we believe that this is a first printing of 1969 based especially on information in the very latest (2015-16 Vol. 1) Fogel's Underground Price & Grading Guide: The figure of Eggs Ackley on front cover has green pants & brown shoes; "R. Crumb" is in a red box at lower right corner of front cover; some pages are miscut with unequal top & bottom margins ("Out of Order" according to Fogel's?) & "All Meat Comics" is the last episode before "Artsy Fartsy" on inner back cover. A very important collectible in the Crumb Comix Canon, in its rarest form to the best of our knowledge. "Sorry Kids! Adults Only" as noted on front cover. In relatively fine condition, approximately equivalent to a 6.0 grade per Fogel's, CGC, etc.: Mild to moderate rubbing, creasing & discoloration to front & back covers; browning & spotting at white margins of back cover; tiniest bumps at all corners of covers & spine; light crease along length of spine; very tiny hole-tears at staple corners. Interior fine except for browning of just-above-newspaper quality pages esp. margins & edges effecting inner front & back covers; but pages not brittle & with barely any acidic scent. Fine.
