[Item #2223] Home Grown Funnies. Robert Crumb.

Home Grown Funnies

Milwaukee, WI: Kitchen Sink Enterprises, 1971. Third Printing. Stapled Wrappers. A now-classic underground comix production entirely written & illustrated by Robert Crumb. Off-the-meter provocative, demented satire from the golden age of the counterculture. Featuring "Maryjane"; "Angelfood McDevilsfood"; the lengthy "Whiteman meets Big Foot" which takes up most of the issue & "The Desperate Character Writes Again!" on back cover. Simultaneously send-ups & confessionals of Crumb's innermost id, exemplars of his unique vision that continues to impact our art & culture. This is the third printing, as stated on inner front cover, still within original year of publication (1971) & very early among the sixteen-&-counting printings that have been published of this perennial favorite. An essential Crumb comix collectible, for adults. In relatively fine condition, approximately equivalent to a 6.0/6.5 grade per Fogel's, CGC, etc.: Very mild rubbing, spotting & creasing of front, back covers esp. white margins of back cover; one very tiny closed gauge-tear at upper right edge of front cover. Interior fine except for browning of just-above-newspaper quality pages esp. margins & edges effecting inner front & back covers; but pages not brittle & with only slightest acidic scent. Fine.
