The notorious small-format (5"x7") booklet from the golden age of underground comix, the most provocative production of that era along with its cohorts Felch, Pork & Snatch. With over-the-top depictions of sexual fantasies & obsessions by Robert Crumb, Rick Griffin, Spain Rodriguez, S. Clay Wilson & other primary writer-illustrators of the 1960s countercultural heyday. Crumb's front & back cover art give an idea of the content between them, mostly one or two-page cartoons with one eight-page episode (Crumb's "The Adventures of Dicknose"). The scholarship on this item is particularly complicated & unsettled, we believe this is a second printing of two (?) produced in 1969 by Apex Novelties. The first printing is slightly skewed from poor hand-trimming, has a faint blue-green horizontal line near the top of "I" in the word "JIZ" on front cover, & has thin black horizontal lines printed near the bottom of some of the pages. The first two indications are not present in this copy, but there is a faint, thin black line near the bottom of the second-to-last page before back cover. Also, the fifty-cent cover price, lack of reference to any publisher & comparison with images of other copies indicate it is most likely a second printing. An outrageous relic, still shocking perhaps more than ever, one of the ultimate tests to freedom of expression. For adult collectors only. In relatively fine condition, approximately equivalent to at least a 6.5 grade per Fogel's, CGC, etc.: Mild rubbing & creasing to front & back covers; mild browning & soiling to white margins of back cover; light crease along length of spine; very minor tear-holes at staple corners. Interior fine except for light browning of just-above-newspaper quality pages esp. margins & edges slightly effecting inner front & back covers; but pages not brittle & with barely any acidic scent.
