[Item #2235] Snatch Comics No. 2. Robert Crumb, Rick Griffin, Rory Hayes, Victor Moscoso, S. Clay Wilson.

Snatch Comics No. 2

San Francisco, CA: Apex Novelties/The Print Mint, 1972. Fourth Printing. Stapled Wrappers. The second number of the infamous series of small-format (5"x7") underground comix booklets that broke all barriers & depicted the most explicit sexual fantasies of Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson & other primary figures of the countercultural golden age. Still shocking in its satirical offensiveness, with Crumb's caricature Angelfood McSpade on front cover & his "The Family that Lays Together Stays together!" cartoon among the outrageous contributions to this issue. Arguably among the most extreme tests of freedom of expression ever unleashed during this era of rebellion against societal convention & hypocrisy. Originally published in January 1969, this is the fourth printing of 1972, as we have concluded after careful study of the extensive scholarship & comparison with images of other fourth printings. The neat trimming & clear black outlines of letters on front cover of this copy are the most significant indications on which to base our conclusion. A notorious, essential comix collectible in its fourth-rarest form, still close to the original. For adult aficionado-completists only. In relatively fine condition, approximately equivalent to at least a 6.5 grade per Fogel's, CGC, etc.: Light rubbing, browning esp. to white margins & creasing of front, back covers; very light crease along length of spine. Interior fine except for browning of just-above-newspaper quality pages esp. margins & edges mildly effecting inner front & back covers; but pages not brittle & with barely any acidic scent. Fine.
