[Item #2237] The Here World Balancing. Clive Matson.

The Here World Balancing

Pleasant Valley, NY: Kriya Press, 1968. Limited First Edition. Single Sheet. A broadside (12&1/2"x17") with the title poem by Clive Matson, the acclaimed poet, author & educator. As a young college drop-out, Matson moved to NYC & met Allen Ginsberg, Diane Di Prima & other founding figures of the Beat Generation. He became the protégé of primary Beat mentor Herbert Huncke, & plunged fully into the Beat & subsequent countercultural work & lifestyle of the 1960s. He has since stepped back from the edge & is a renowned instructor with a prolific, still-growing oeuvre of poetry & educational writings. This broadside is from the height of his bohemian, Beat-influenced initial phase. A bold & beautiful production with block print illustration, printed by Kriya Press of Sri Ram Ashrama, which also produced broadsides with poems by Ginsberg & others during this period. One of a limited edition of one hundred hand-numbered copies, this is copy number 90/100. An exquisite Matson collectible rarity. In very fine condition, with only light tanning & rubbing (the latter possibly as issued) to edges & margins; tiny bumps & creases at upper & lower right corners. Currently mounted on stiff board in protective shrinkwrap. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #2237]
