n/p: Unknown, Circa 1970. First Printing. Single Sheet. A large (approx. 15&3/8"x21&7/8"), hand-printed poster announcing the single matinee performance of a play by Michael McClure, primary playwright & poet of the San Francisco Renaissance, the Beat Generation & beyond. The play, Spider Rabbit, is among the "Gargoyle Cartoon" series produced & published by McClure during the late 1960s-early 1970s. There is no year or day of the week referred to on the poster, but the (probably) first production of this play took place in 1969 at the Magic Theater then located in Berkeley, CA. We cannot determine where this performance occurred. A bold production with illustration of a rabbit clutching a grenade in front of a spider web background. A very rare McClure-related collectible relic. In very fine condition with only tiny bumps & creases to corners.
Item is currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrink wrap, will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #2267]
