n/p: Unknown, 1977. Presumed First Printing. Single Sheet. A broadside (11"x17") with only the title "Poem" (first group of words: "The baby Jesus was born in the...") by Ron Padgett, the award-winning, acclaimed poet of the New York School as well as an associate of the Black Mountain & Beat Generation poets. A most striking production, with blocks of text that almost evoke the disconnections of an "exquisite corpse" format; integrated into bold, colorful background illustrations by George Schneeman, whose name & the year 1977 are written in an outlined section near the lower right corner. We have seen unofficial references to publisher Yanagi of Bolinas, CA & a numbered limitation of 300; but no publisher, place or limitation is mentioned thereon & we have not been able to confirm these points. In any case, this is a striking, delightful Padgett rarity. In very fine condition, virtually mint with only the faintest small bend-bump at lower left corner.
Item is currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrink wrap, will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. This item cannot be sent by Media Mail, so extra shipping/handling charges are required. Very Fine. [Item #2303]
