Flint, MI: Bamberger Books, 1987. Limited First Edition. Softcover. Inscribed & signed by Anne Waldman to James Perrizo. A short, enchanting volume of prose-poetry by Anne Waldman, a primary poet of the later Beat Generation, the New York School & beyond; leader of the Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church-In-The-Bowery; co-founder with Allen Ginsberg of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. Waldman's impressions & observations while traveling are conveyed in titled chapters. With front cover illustration by Jill Englebardt. A softcover original, one of a stated first edition of 800 copies, of which 26 were lettered & signed by the author. This copy is among the 774 trade copies, but it is inscribed, signed & dated in the year of publication on the title page: "For Jim Perrizo/Warmly/(signed) Anne Waldman/Sept 9.87/(small star-asterisk)." James Perrizo (1944-2006) was an important Beat Generation collector & scholar who at one time was the assistant to Edie Kerouac Parker, Jack Kerouac's former wife. A significant collectible from the middle period of the Waldman canon, especially with this inscription, signature & association. In very fine condition with only very slight rubbing & scratching to front, back covers; tiny bumps at upper right corner of front cover, upper & lower left corners of back cover. Interior virtually mint except for small, light smudge at & near mid-right edge of blank front endpaper. Very Fine. [Item #2337]
