Hannover, Germany: Apartment Editions, 1990. Limited First German Edition. Sewn Wrappers. A large-format chapbook with the long, many-sectioned title poem & dream record by Anne Waldman, one of the primary poets of the later Beat Generation, the New York School & beyond. Originally published in 1977, this is the German edition of 500 copies issued in October 1990 as Apartment Edition #6, of which 33 copies were numbered & signed by the poet. This copy is one of the 467 not numbered or signed. With English text (with "Author's slight revisions" as noted on copyright page) & German translation by Rolf Bruck & Jurgen Schmidt on alternate pages. As noted in the original edition but not here, "This work composed on a bus, down a motel corridor, in a coliseum, while traveling with the Rolling Thunder Revue, November-December 1975." The legendary Revue was a traveling show led by Bob Dylan. An exquisitely crafted production, with illustrated dust jacket over sewn wrappers; a photograph of Waldman by Cynthia McAdams with tissue guard, formerly lightly pasted & now loose but completely intact opposite title page; & quality thick-stock pages. A rare variation of a classic collectible in the Waldman canon, & uniquely desirable in itself. In very fine condition with only slight creasing at dust jacket front cover corners & spine edges, slightly effecting same of front wrapper & spine; photograph & tissue guard loose as noted above; creasing at thin upper edge of tissue guard; otherwise virtually pristine inside & out. Very Fine / Very Fine. [Item #2346]
