Two Logging Songs

Berkeley, CA: Serendipity Books, 1973. First Printing. Single Sheet. A broadside (7&1/2"x13") with two short poems ("Clear-Cut" & "Virgin") on the theme of logging (along with anti-war & erotic sentiments) by Gary Snyder, among the primary poets of the Beat Generation & beyond. As noted in the colophon information below the poem, "This free broadside published by Serendipity Books for the International Antiquarian Book Fair, Spring, 1973. Printed at the Arif Press, Berkeley." Serendipity Books was the late, legendary bookstore in Berkeley. With blind-embossed facsimile signature of the poet below the poem. According to John Sherlock's Bibliography of Works By and About Gary Snyder (Second Edition, Revised and Expanded, 2010), this broadside was issued in an edition of 2000 copies. A desirable Snyder collectible with significant associations. In very fine condition, virtually mint on handmade coarse-textured Curtis paper with slightly irregular bottom edge as issued. Mounted on stiff board, in protective shrinkwrap. Very Fine. [Item #2349]
