Back Roads to Far Towns After Basho. Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

Back Roads to Far Towns After Basho

San Francisco, CA: City Lights Books, 1970. First Edition, First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. "Back Roads to Far Towns After Basho" is an exceedingly rare run of 500 copies pressed on September 1, 1970 "for friends of the author." As the title implies, Ferlinghetti took cues from his study of Haiku masters Basho and others and combined it with his then fully-flowered creative force for this memorable collection of verses. Lawrence gave these away to friends for free after he received the initial print run, and offered the remaining copies for sale at the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco for $1.50. (Morgan A25, pg. 58) In very fine condition with only light rubbing to front, back wrappers and spine; tiny amount of spotting near spine-edge of back cover; light vertical creasing along length of spine with a few short, faint horizontal creases emanating therefrom on front cover; staples in process of rusting, with tiny amount of bleeding at interior folds. Interior otherwise very fine. Very Fine. [Item #2532]
