Beat Scene No. 62 (Spring 2010) with; Bonus Ephemera

Coventry, England: Beat Scene Press, 2010. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Beat Scene Issue No. 62 begins with a feature on respected scholar, author & professor Eric Mottram, and the time he spent relentlessly affirming the importance of the Beats in cultural and academic circles formerly hostile to their influence and inclusion. Following is a feature on the time Jack Kerouac spent in Detroit with his first wife, Edie Kerouac-Parker; an interview with another inarguably authoritative historical/biographical voice on the Beat Generation, Carolyn Cassady; and yet another Beat-wife interview, this last of three with Richard Brautigan's first wife, Virginia Aste. Also included is an elegiac endorsement of Cleveland-based poet-publisher D.A. Levy by internationally celebrated poet Charles Bukowski. Also included is a single sheet flyer/broadside with transcription of a letter written by Lew Welch to Jack Kerouac on July 5, 1960 & originally "....given away to subscribers...." with this issue. Another rich number in the collectible series that always lives up to its front-cover motto: "This is the Beat Generation." Magazine as new with only slightest evidence of bumping to all corners of front cover. Ephemera substantially near mint with only a few tiny bumps & short, faint creases at blank edges & corners, printed on recto only. As New. [Item #2568]
