The Gospel of Celine Arnauld

ISBN: (ISSN)01462083
Berkeley, CA: Tuumba Press, 1977. Limited First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. Signed by Clayton Eshleman. A chapbook of poems by Clayton Eshleman, the esteemed poet, translator & educator who has long resided in Michigan. As he explains in a note following the poems, Eshleman declined to translate the 1920s-30s poetry of Celine Arnauld from the French, but experimented with writing his own english-language poems in her spirit, & liberated from the constraints of her time & place. One of an edition of 425 copies published by Tuumba Press as Tuumba 12 in November 1977, this is hand-numbered copy No. 158/425. Additionally, the poet has hand-signed his name just below the colophon-limitation on the last page leaf. A beautiful, hand-crafted production & a most desirable Eshleman collectible. In very fine condition with only a tiny bump at upper corner of spine, otherwise substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #2580]
