Broadside-Poster for "Poems on Paper: An Exhibit of Bay Area Broadsides 1955-1977"

San Francisco, CA: Intersection Coffee Gallery/Amaranth Press, 1977. First Printing. Single Sheet. A broadside-poster (20"x13") announcing the exhibit "Poems on Paper: An Exhibit of Bay Area Broadsides 1955-1977" which was held at the Intersection Coffee Gallery in San Francisco during March 22-May 5, 1977. Among the poets whose broadsides were exhibited were Robert Duncan, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Kaufman, Kenneth Patchen, Gary Snyder, Jack Spicer, Lew Welch, Philip Whalen & others (all referred to with their last names only)- a veritable who's-who of the most significant figures of the Beat Generation, the San Francisco Renaissance, the Black Mountain School & beyond. The presses noted include Auerhahn, Ferlinghetti's imprint City Lights, Cranium & other venerable practitioners of the high craft of broadside-making at its zenith. With reproduction of a drawing from Patchen's "House on Horseback." Appropriately, this piece exemplifies what it extols & promotes. It is beautifully printed on fine, thick paper presumably by the Amaranth Press (where a reception with "Wine, Cheese, Jazz" is noted). A bold, outstanding production; & a very rare collectible with many important literary associations. In very fine condition, virtually mint. Currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrinkwrap. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #2593]
