Mill Valley, CA: Artists for Social Responsibility/Artisans Art Gallery, 1983. First Printing. Poster. Signed & designated as Artist's Proof by Steve Emery. A poster (15"x24") for an art exhibit that took place during June & July of 1983 at Artisans Art Gallery in Mill Valley, California; along with related poetry readings at the Mill Valley Community Center. The exhibit was entitled & themed "Marin Artists Respond to Nuclear & Technological Threats to Life" & was held at the Gallery from June 22-July 30. The readings included Diane di Prima, among the primary female poets of the Beat Generation & still active as of this writing, along with her family, on June 23; & the late, noted poets Mark Linenthal (1921-2010) & Frances Jaffers (1920-1999) on July 17. The exhibit & readings were under the main heading of "Response" & the exhibit was curated by Artists for Social Responsibility. With reproduction of a bold, charcoal or pastel illustration in black, white & grey by artist Steve Emery. Just below the illustration, Emery has hand-written in pencil "A.P." (initials for Artist's Proof), & has hand-signed his name, also in pencil. A beautiful production, & a most desirable rarity with important literary & artistic associations. In very fine condition with only tiny closed tear-bump at upper left corner; miniscule bump at upper right corner; very faint, short creases & wear at a few areas of side edges; lower right edge slightly irregular most likely as issued. Currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrinkwrap. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #2615]
