A Fierce God and a Fiercer War

Coventry, England: The Beat Scene Press, 2007. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Signed By Michael McClure. Signed, numbered, Limited Edition (#92/150). In this 2005 interview, Michigan State University professor, poet, & critical essayist Rod Phillips interviews poet Michael McClure, whose radically presented visionary poems echo the social & environmental concerns so masterfully charted in his work & the work of his internationally celebrated friends Gary Snyder & Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The interview covers these subjects & more, revealing a McClure who at 73 years old (during the time of the interview) is still sharp as ever. The interview concludes with McClure's politically-charged antiwar classic "Poisoned Wheat," a reactionary response after the poet learned of crop poisoning in Cambodia (on behalf of the Vietnam War). Book in very fine condition with only minor rubbing to spine; series of horizontal creases running through same. Very Fine. [Item #2651]
