Poster for The San Francisco Rolling Renaissance: A Counterculture History of the '50's & 60's

San Francisco, CA: Theatre Guild of San Francisco, 1985. First Printing. Single Sheet. A poster (11"x14") announcing "The San Francisco Renaissance: A Counterculture History of the 50's & '60's, " a two-part event held during January 25-27, 1985 at the Victoria Theatre in San Francisco. One part was entitled "West Coast Beat & Beyond: A Tribute to Jack Kerouac," & included a video featuring Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Kaufman, Kerouac, Ken Kesey, Joanne Kyger, Philip Lamantia, Peter Orlovsky & other primary figures of the Beat Generation; as well as a reading by acclaimed Kerouac biographer Gerald Nicosia from his then-recently released "Memory Babe: A Critical Biography of Jack Kerouac." The other part was entitled "The San Francisco Oracle Slide Show" & was devoted to the named legendary underground journal. Wonderfully illustrated with a saxophone forming the stem of "K" in "Kerouac, sunflowers at lower margins, reproduction of a vintage photograph of Kerouac, etc. We're of course delighted that the very words of our own motto are here: "Beat & Beyond"! A superb relic in tribute to the Beat Generation & the 60's-era counterculture that followed in its immediate wake, from the city that was their zenith. In very fine condition with only the slightest bumps at upper corners & lower left corner; a tiny amount of ink smudging-lines mostly outside margins, undoubtedly as issued.
