Lawrence Ferlinghetti in London - 1965

Coventry, England: The Beat Scene Press, 2016. Limited First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. (#22/125) "Lawrence Ferlinghetti In London - 1965" is an interview Ferlinghetti was scheduled to give for Penthouse Magazine after the Royal Albert Hall Reading in 1965, which featured Ferlinghetti, Gregory Corso, & Allen Ginsberg, among others. Typical of the majority of press the Beats received in the 50's & 60's, the interviewer's comically ludicrous approach and at-times evidently irrelevant questions make one wonder how magnitudinous a movement could be so contemptibly ridiculed. All is not lost here, though, and Ferlinghetti gives excellent answers to all questions. They cover topics such as Allen Ginsberg, Dylan Thomas, modern English poets, philosophical musings on the concept of God & more. This valuable interview provides a window into the poet & publisher's mind when he was still hungrier than ever to continue revolutionizing modern poetry "and looking for the next undiscovered masterpiece"--as his fire & fervency here make obvious. Book in very fine condition with only slightest bump to bottom right corner of back cover; two 1/2" small horizontal creases near spine-edge of back cover at lower middle. Very Fine. [Item #2689]
