Detroit, MI: Parkville Publishing, 1990. First Edition. Softcover. Inscribed & signed by M.L. Liebler to James Perrizo. "This collection is a summary of M.L. Liebler's work from 1973 to 1990, including pieces performed with the Magic Poetry Band and recorded on Private Studio Records. Liebler is one of the most important poets and literary activists of the midwest and this collection demonstrates how his work is as strong on the printed page as it is live."(Mark Donovan, quoted on back cover) A volume of poems & short fictional prose by M.L. Liebler, the native Detroit poet-performer & longtime professor at Wayne State University. Stated first edition of April 1990, softcover original produced in Detroit, with front cover artwork by Jeffrey L. Ensroth. We have seen references to a limited edition of this work published in 2001, this is the true first edition. This copy is hand-inscribed & signed on first shorter title page: "For Jim-/a good-"beat"/buddy-/Love,/(signed)M.L. Liebler/29 March 1990/GPP." Jim is James Perrizo (1944-2006), a devoted Beat-&-Beyond collector who at one time was the assistant to Edie Parker, Jack Kerouac's former wife. The date of the inscription just precedes the official publication, further confirming that this is a first edition/first printing. The initials "GPP" most probably refer to Gross Pointe Park, an affluent eastern suburb of Detroit where Liebler must have performed & sold this then-brand new book. A primary & desirable Liebler collectible with significant, earliest association. In very fine condition with only a tiny bit of rubbing esp. at spine-edges of front, back covers; most minute bumps at corners of front cover; one shallow pinhole-sized dimple at upper right spine edge. Interior substantially mint. Very Fine. [Item #2763]
