Ann Arbor, MI: OtherWind Press, Inc., 1988. First Printing. Softcover; Flexible Record Sheet. This number of the 1980s era-contemporary literary journal published in our beloved city of Ann Arbor, Michigan features several important contributions by the venerable poet & ethnopoeticist Jerome Rothenberg: A flexible, rectangular two-sided "Soundsheet" with the poet's voice accompanied by music, performing six poems (three on each side), four by Rothenberg & one each by his Dada ancestors Hugo Ball & Kurt Schwitters. The soundsheet, which plays in the manner of a 7" vinyl single, is loosely included in the issue between inner front cover & contents page. In addition by Rothenberg are two poems based on Gematria, "a form of traditional Jewish numerology" as he explains in his introduction. Also in this issue is "The Inequalities," a long, exemplary poem by the renowned Deep Imagist Robert Kelly; four poems by Lewis Warsh, the later New York School poet who collaborated with Anne Waldman early in his career, including "By the Fire," & much more. With front cover photograph by Bill McNeece of a Dada-esque assemblage on a Detroit street; brief notes on contributors on back cover, etc. A very important part of this collectible series. Journal in very fine condition with only tiny amount of wear along top edge of front cover; short, thin line of spot stain-smudging at left area of same; tiny bumps at corners of covers & spine. Interior very fine with only short, faint creases at & near upper-mid side edges of a few page leaves; otherwise substantially mint. Black plastic flexible soundsheet appears to be unplayed & in substantially mint condition. Very Fine. [Item #2888]
