Ann Arbor, MI: OtherWind Press, Inc., 1989. First Printing. Softcover; Flexible Record Sheet. This number of the 1980s era-contemporary literary journal published in our home city of Ann Arbor, Michigan features a flexible "Soundsheet," still attached unloosened between inner front cover & first endpaper, with rare recordings of Black Mountain School-&-Beyond poet Paul Blackburn (1926-1971) reading three of his poems, including "Prelenten Gestures." The rectangular sheet is loosely placed between inside front cover & contents page, & plays in the manner of a 7" vinyl single. Also in this issue are a series of seven drawings by Philip Guston inspired by & including the texts of poems by William Corbett, with an introduction by Corbett, including the viciously hilarious "The Richard Nixon Story" that itself is worth the price of admission, so to speak; a poem by the Deep Imagist maestro Robert Kelly, "Niagra frontier, Song Scattered Among Friends"; eight poems by contributing editor Joseph Lease, including "We Layer Folded Heat" & "Nerves Torn to Shreds," & much more. With two of the Corbett/Guston drawings-poems illustrating front & back covers; brief notes on contributors, etc. Another desirable issue in this collectible series, especially with the Blackburn recordings. Journal in fine condition with only very mild rubbing, scratching & creases to front, back covers & spine; tiny bumps & small creases at corners & edges of same; one closed, short tear at upper spine-edge of front cover. Interior very fine with only light bump-curves to top corners of first few page leaves; otherwise substantially mint. Black plastic flexible soundsheet unplayed & in substantially mint condition, still attached unloosened as noted above. Fine. [Item #2889]
