Homer's Art

ISBN: 0933237901
Canton, NY: Glover Publishing for The Institute of Further Studies, 1990. First Printing, Review Copy. Stapled Wrappers. A chapbook by Alice Notley, wife of the New York School luminary Ted Berrigan & an acclaimed later NYS poet herself. With the title short essay & three poems, including the lengthy "White Phosphorus," which consists entirely of sections with stanza-paragraphs of phrases in quotes. Interestingly, the inner front & rear covers reproduce scattered notes attributed to Black Mountain School giant Charles Olson. Sub-(or super-) titled "a curriculum of the soul" & referred to as "No. 9" on front cover, this is a review copy, with publisher's review solicitation sheet loosely included between front cover & first endpaper. A beautiful production with front cover artwork by Guy Berard, & a desirable Notley collectible. In very fine condition with only the slightest wear, a few faint creases & tiny bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & stapled spine; tiny amount of rubbing of blank, off-white back cover. Interior, slightly smaller than outer wraps, in very fine condition with only very slight bleeding from staples beginning to rust inside only; otherwise virtually mint. Very Fine. [Item #2890]
