Uh-Oh Plutonium!

New York, NY: Anne Waldman, 1982. First Edition. 45 RPM "Picture Sleeve" Single. Signed by Anne Waldman to Ken Mikolowski, Co-Founder of Detroit's Visionary Alternative Press. In the late 1970s Anne Waldman, Allen Ginsberg & others formed a coalition called the Rocky Flats Truth Force, a grassroots, nonviolent antinuclear group which protested the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons plant near the city of Golden, Colorado. Iconic photographs of the event were taken, and not long after the protests began, the participants (including Waldman & Ginsberg) were arrested. While Ginsberg had his "Plutonian Ode," Waldman penned her André Breton-influenced "Uh-Oh Plutonium!" around this same time--and in the ecstatic, no-holds-barred style that has become so inarguably her own. The A-Side of the record is in English, and the B-Side is in French. This particularly copy is from the collection of Ken & Ann Mikolowski, founders of Detroit's visionary Alternative Press, publishers of many Beat Generation, "New York School," and "Black Mountain"-affiliated authors, including Waldman. It is also signed by Waldman to Ken Mikolowski. Signature reads: "Anne Waldman / for KEN / Let the good / times roll." The record is in very fine condition, or in a more specific parlance for vinyl records, "Near Mint." The record is a bit dusty but looks as if it was never played. Very Fine / Near Mint.
