A Range of Poems with: "Invitation to Reception for the Poet"

London, England: Fulcrum Press, 1966 (1967). First Edition, Second Printing. Hardcover in Sewn Binding. Signed by Gary Snyder to Ken Mikolowski, Co-Founder of Detroit's Visionary Alternative Press. "A Range of Poems" is comprised of the Snyder collections "Riprap," "Cold Mountain," "Myths & Texts," the rare "Miyazawa Kenji," (translations of the Japanese poet Miyazawa Kenji, greatly admired by Snyder and others) and "The Back Country." This publication marked the first appearance of the Kenji translations. According to Katherine McNeil's esteemed "Gary Snyder: A Bibliography," what is labeled by the publisher "Second Edition" denotes not a second edition as traditionally understood, but rather a second printing with a few corrections of errata contained within the first printing. Signed by Gary Snyder to Ken Mikolowski, co-founder of Detroit's visionary "Alternative Press," publishers and close friends of Snyder. Signature in black felt-pen ink reads: "For Ken Mikolowski / Gary Snyder." Found within the book was an original invitation received by Ken for a "RECEPTION FOR THE POET" on Wednesday, April 7, 1976 at 9:30 P.M. at Paperbacks Unlimited Bookstore, 22634 Woodward Avenue." The reception was likely attended by Ken-a delightful rarity once used as a bookmark that will be left precisely where we found it in the book. This book was printed by Fulcrum Press at Villiers in England, which is where the early City Lights titles--including Ginsberg's momentous "Howl & Other Poems"--were first printed at the dawn of the first San Francisco Renaissance. Book in fine condition with only average shelf-wear to all corners of front, rear boards. Dust jacket in near fine condition with minor rubbing, slight chipping, creasing to fine-edges; minor tear to back cover at spine-edge; price clip to inner flap of front cover. Fine / Near Fine.
