Galerie K Exhibition Catalog. William S. Burroughs.

Galerie K Exhibition Catalog

Paris, France: Galerie K, 1990. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. A catalog for an exhibit of William S. Burroughs' artworks held at the Galerie K in Paris during March 23-April 21, 1990. Following the death of artist-author Brion Gysin in 1986, WSB engaged in the creation of artworks in earnest, as a parallel endeavor along with his iconic Beat-&-Beyond writings. He also wrote extensively about the ideas & methods behind his artworks. This large, glossy production is a particularly beautiful relic of WSB's late artistic phase, with bold, color reproductions of works created between 1986-1989. With two contemporary photographs of WSB by Eimar de Palaminy preceding & following the reproductions; short prefaces by WSB himself, Achille Bonita Oliva & Rosine Buhler all in French text. See Schottlaender, B15, pg. 26; Shoaf, Section II, No. 243, pg. 98, where this is referred to as "Quite an upscale production." From the collection of Jim McCrary, a poet & educator who resides in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was a friend & associate of WSB during his later years. A key collectible among the WSB art catalogs of his last decade, with significant provenance- undoubtedly perused by WSB with McCrary. In fine condition with only moderate rubbing & scratching to front, back covers & stapled spine; very light bumps & wear at edges & corners of same. Interior fine with only mild rubbing & spotting at black, blank areas of page leaves not effecting any images or text; small blank area at & near upper corners between rear endpaper & inner back cover damaged & stuck together, without complete tearing of these leaves. Fine. [Item #2980]
