After the death of WSB's close friend & collaborator Brion Gysin in 1986, he became an artist in earnest, in tandem with his later Beat-&-Beyond writings. With fine color reproductions of works created between 1987-1989; a preface by Aurel Schmidt in German text; the same text in English as an afterword entitled "William Burroughs as Writer and Painter" & several wonderful, rare contemporary photographic images: A benign, dapper WSB waving a greeting with his foremost friend & associate James Grauerholz taken by Jon Blumb on front cover; WSB with noted painter Julian Schnabel by Philip Heying; & WSB with Grauerholz, Udo Breger & co. in Basel by Blumb. From the collection of Jim McCrary, a poet & educator who resides in Lawrence Kansas, where he was a friend & associate of WSB during his later years; a member of Burroughs Communications led by Grauerholz. A rare & desirable WSB collectible, with important provenance & association. In fine condition with only mild wear & moderate scratching-crinkling at esp. front, back covers & spine; minor wear & bumping at edges & corners of same; small spot & streak of light staining near upper left corner of front cover; area of tiny spotting at & near upper edge, esp. right corner of back cover. Interior very fine with only tiny bump-waves at corners of some page leaves; light spotting & staining at & near upper & lower edges of blank inside front cover; much less at & near upper edge of blank inside back cover.
