Tel Aviv, Israel: Am Oved Publishers Ltd., 2000. First Edition Thus, Second Printing. Softcover. A rare Hebrew-language edition of Kaddish, Allen Ginsberg's Beat Generation masterpiece alongside Howl. With the iconic title poem, & then a selection of poems through 1984, none of which appear to include those originally included along with Kaddish in the original City Lights Pocket Poets Series edition first published in 1961. With English & Hebrew texts of poems on opposite pages. Translated from English into Hebrew by Natan Zak, who provides an introduction in Hebrew without English translation. With original illustrations by Zwy Milshtein; many photographs throughout including rare early images of Ginsberg & his family; images of other key Beat figures; & an epilogue-collection of quotes & commentary presumably by Ginsberg, mostly in Hebrew text without translations. Format is right-to-left per Hebrew language structure. A softcover original in plain wrappers with dust jacket attached at spine. First edition thus originally published in 1988, second printing of 2000 as noted in Hebrew on copyright page. A beautiful, rich production, in a language appropriate to the name of the title poem, an ancient Jewish prayer for the dead; a most desirable Ginsberg collectible. In very fine condition with only slightest wear to edges & tiny bumps at corners of front, back covers & spine of attached dust jacket; one short, faint crease near lower left corner of front dust jacket cover; tiny bumps at upper corner of front wrapper cover & both corners of rear wrapper cover; one small spot at upper-side edge of text block. Interior very fine, virtually mint except for very slight waving of side & upper edges, a few tiny faint spots at side margins of a few page leaves toward middle. Very Fine. [Item #3021]
