The "Priest" They Called Him 10" Picture Disc Limited Edition LP

ISBN: 6448300441
Portland, OR: Tim Kerr Records, 1992. Limited First Edition. 10" LP in Jacket. The only finished collaboration between William S. Burroughs, the foremost figure of the Beat Generation & beyond; & Kurt Cobain, the acclaimed, doomed Nirvana front man & pioneering grunge musician. WSB reads the title short work, originally published in Exterminator! (1973), with Cobain's dissonant guitar accompaniment. As noted in Schottlaender, this is a " 0" one-sided EP picture disk record (limited to 5000 numbered copies with facsimiles of Burroughs' and Cobain's signatures etched on one side)." (E22, pg. 110). This copy is sealed by the manufacturer, & therefore we cannot confirm the limitation number. The record is housed in a pictorial jacket with a treated image of a "Priest" on front cover portrayed by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic; & contemporary images of WSB & Cobain on back cover. From the collection of Jim McCrary, a poet & educator who resides in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was a friend & associate of WSB during his later years there; a member of Burroughs Communications led by WSB's foremost associate James Grauerholz, who is credited as producer of this item. A most desirable WSB rarity with distinguished provenance, as well as one of the more famous examples of his influence on & collaboration with younger generations of writers, performers & artists by whom he was revered. In as-new condition, sealed in shrinkwrap, with only tiny bump-crease & loss of wrap at lower right-front corner of jacket. Sealed As New. [Item #3039]
