Drowning Like Li Po in a River of Red Wine

Dover, DE: Bottle of Smoke Press, 2010. Limited First Edition / Association Copy. Softcover in Stiff Wraps. This alluring production from Delaware's respected Bottle of Smoke Press is A.D. Winans' "Drowning Like Li Po in a River of Red Wine," a compilation of selected poems spanning the 40 years between 1970-2010. Of this limited first edition there were 100 unnumbered copies in stiff letterpress wraps, of which this is one. Winans, publisher of Second Coming Press and a stalwart fighter against the backstage corruption of prize-awarding groups like the NEA, has long been entrenched in the Beat tradition and as of this writing is still active as a poet today. Unique to this copy is its association; it is signed by Winans to Charles Plymell, who was his right-hand man in the fight against the "backstage corruption" referred to above. Signature in blue pen ink reads: "To Charles, a / great poet & / valued friend. /(Signed) A.D. Winans /11/27/10.! Book in fine condition with minute shelf-wear to fine-edges and light rubbing to front, back covers; including a slightly more significant portion near the bottom right-hand corner of back cover (see picture). Very Fine. [Item #3048]
