Fuzz Against Junk: The Saga of the Narcotics Brigade

New York, NY: Beach Books,Texts & Documents, Inc., 1969. Second American Edition (First Edition Thus). Softcover. Norman Rubington (1921-1991) was an acclaimed painter, illustrator & filmmaker who first published this work with Maurice Girodias' fabled Olympia Press in 1960. The first American edition was issued the next year by The Citadel Press. This is the Second American Edition, first printing (though not stated) of 1969, published by Beach Books, Texts & Documents- the imprint of Mary Beach & her husband Claude Pelieu, important figures in the Beat-&-Beyond circle. The rear endpaper lists contemporary now-collectible Beach Books productions by William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Carl Solomon & others. The work combines hipster-Beat text with collages of antique engraved illustrations. An amusing Beat-related rarity. In near-fine condition with only moderate wear & rubbing to leather-textured paper front, back covers & spine; moderate bumping, creasing & wear at & near all edges & corners of same; mostly moderate soiling, spotting & browning to edges of text block. Interior fine with only tiny, light wave-bumps at corners of page leaves; sparse spotting on a few of same esp. at lower corners of front & rear endpapers. Near Fine. [Item #3049]
