The very first two numbers of the venerable poetry journal, edited & with contributions by renowned Michigan writers Dan Gerber & the late, legendary Jim Harrison; also co-edited by "East Coast Editor" James Randall. Other contributors to the first volume include late luminaries Kenneth Koch, Denise Levertov & Robert Duncan; the second volume features contributions by the late esteemed poet Donald Hall & notes for "New" Cantos by the late, loathsome (but stubbornly indispensable in the modern poetry canon) Ezra Pound; along with many others in both volumes. Mostly poetry, of course, with a few prose essays, reviews, etc. The foundational issues of an important & collectible series. No. 1 in fine condition with only mild rubbing, scratching & a few tiny spots to front, back covers & spine; very light wear & tiny bumps at all edges & corners of same; small cluster of creases at & near middle upper edge of front cover; areas of mild (water?) staining at lower spine & spine-edges of covers; extensive but light area of browning-sunning-staining(?) on surface of front cover; previous seller's small price sticker in blank area near upper right corner of back cover; light browning to edges of text block esp. upper edge. Interior very fine with only small bump-creases to upper corners of a few page leaves.
