"Punk Rock Your My Big Crybaby. Allen Ginsberg.

"Punk Rock Your My Big Crybaby

Grindstone City, MI: The Alternative Press, 1979. Limited First Printing. Single Sheet. Signed by Bob Rosenthal as himself & as "Allen Ginsberg." "I'll tell my deaf mother on you! Fall on the floor/ and eat your grandmother's diapers! Drums, / Whatta lotta Noise you want a Revolution?" (first three lines of poem) A small broadside (approx. 8" x 10&1/2") with the title poem by Allen Ginsberg, a founding father of the Beat Generation & lecherous-curmudgeonly Godfather of the punk-rock movement a generation later. Placed & dated "Mabuhay Gardens, May 1977." An exemplary, hand-crafted production of The Alternative Press, founded & conducted by the great local poet, printer & Professor Ken Mikolowski & his late wife Ann. The Press produced many broadsides, chapbooks & ephemera by Ginsberg & other primary figures of the Beat Generation, Black Mountain & New York Schools, etc. According to The Works of Allen Ginsberg 1941-1994: A Descriptive Bibliography by Bill Morgan (Greenwood Press, Westport, CT 1995), This is one of 600 copies published on November 11, 1979, issued as part of AP's ninth in a series of rarity-filled envelopes sent to subscribers (AA28, pg. 88). This copy is hand-inscribed below the poet's printed name: "Allen Ginsberg/ (a fake)/ Bob Rosenthal." Robert "Bob" Rosenthal was Ginsberg's close associate & secretary, & he produces a very good imitation of Ginsberg's signature here for fun, then his own actual signature. The Mikolowskis were friends as well as collaborators with both Ginsberg & Rosenthal, & were given this wacky inscription as a good-humored gag. We obtained this from Ken himself. An outstanding & most desirable Ginsberg rarity, with a very special inscription & provenance. In very fine condition on thick purple wove paper with only a few miniscule bumps & short, faint creases at edges & corners. Very Fine. [Item #3192]
