A uniquely rare & collectible bundle of works by Charles Plymell, the legendary poet, printer, publisher & Literary Outlaw; & Roxie Powell, Plymell's contemporary & fellow Wichita, Kansas native: (1) Tent Shaker Vortex Voice by Charles Plymell- an epic, mystical poem with "Prolegomenon," Prologue & postscript. In his "Prolegomenon" introductory essay, Plymell states that this poem contains a "...complexity of form, fact, and prophecy..." & declares himself to be '...a mythographer, an historian of the unconscious, a Kansa shaman...". With a center section of two tipped-in color photographs of Plymell's shamanistic sculptures, male & female "Rock Holders," hand-captioned & initialed by him at lower page margins. A chapbook in sewn binding hand-crafted by Bill Roberts' venerable Bottle of Smoke Press, this is a third printing of TSVV limited to 100 (un-numbered) copies as noted in colophon. Though not called for therein, Plymell has hand-signed his name below his printed name on title page. With reproduction of a collage artwork by the poet on front cover; laudatory blurbs by Gerard Malanga, Roxy Powell & many others on back cover. (2) Sheet of twenty perforated-bordered stamps with depictions of the same male & female sculptures noted above, one of a hand-numbered edition of 50 produced by BoSP as a promotion of the first printings of TSVV the previous year (2012), this is No. 37/50. (3) Tumbleweed of Contrdictions: A memoir by Roxy Powell, Plymell's close friend & fellow "Wichita Vortex" Kansan writer. As noted on back cover, "While (Powell)'s had different loves throughout his life, the constant one has been writing, and he recalls his interactions with literary giants such as Allen Ginsberg, Neal Cassady, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and other leading figures of the counterculture movement." On title page, Powell has hand-inscribed to Charles Plymell & his wife Pamela Beach Plymell: "For Charley & Pam,/ When I needed help Charley/ was there, together they/ helped me believe that life/ was possible,/ Love,/ (signed) Rox." Trade-format softcover original, first edition & presumed first printing with reference to publisher's "rev. date 07/22/2016" on copyright page. Altogether an outstanding little collection of inter-related rarities by two iconoclastic icons. (1) & (2) in superbly very fine, effectively mint condition, (2) in publisher's protective clear sleeve & backing. (3) in very fine condition with only very light rubbing to front, back covers & spine; very mild wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of same.
