Detroit, MI: Broadside Press, 1970. First American Edition, Revised; Fifth Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Inscribed & signed by Dudley Randall to James Perrizo. A chapbook of poems by Dudley Randall (1914-2000), the venerable African-American poet who graduated from the University of Michigan here in 1951 (the same year as Frank O'Hara- might the two legends have crossed paths?), & was a librarian & Poet-in-Residence at the University of Detroit when this work was first issued during 1970 as "Volume ten in the Heritage series published by Paul Breman (in) London" as noted on title page. This is the first American edition, revised, fifth printing as noted on copyright page; produced in Detroit by Broadside Press, founded by Randall in 1965. The year of this printing is not specified. On the title page, Randall has hand-written: "With best wishes/ for Jim,/ (signed) Dudley Randall." "Jim" is the late James Perrizo, a dedicated Beat-&-Beyond scholar & collector who was an assistant to Edie Parker, Jack Kerouac's first wife. An outstanding Randall rarity with this inscription, signature, association & provenance. In very fine condition with only very light rubbing & a few short, faint creases to front, back covers & esp. stapled spine; mild wear & occasional tiny bumps at edges & corners of same. Interior very fine with only miniscule bumps at corners of a few page leaves; otherwise substantially mint. Very Fine. [Item #3446]
