Untitled Broadside ("The world is a beautiful place")

New Haven, CT: Sign of the Gryphon, 1989. First Printing. Single Sheet. A broadside (appx. 16&1/2" x 23&7/8") by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the great poet & publisher who was a Founding Father of the Beat Generation & the San Francisco Renaissance, still with us as of this writing at one hundred years old. A bold, beautiful production with the eleventh poem from Ferlinghetti's seminal Pictures of the Gone World, his first collection originally published in 1955 as the first number of his iconic City Lights Books Pocket Poets Series. Above the poem is a small reproduction of his oil painting, "Earth First! (The Dark Strand)" (1987). One of an undetermined edition hand-numbered Copy No. 24. As stated in colophon below borders: "Gryphon Poetry Broadside No. One/ Privately Printed in New Haven by Robert Reid and Terry Berger at the Sign of the Gryphon/ January, 1989 (logo)." A superb, extremely rare Ferlinghetti collectible. In very fine condition with only a few short, faint creases & tiny dimples at lower edge; otherwise flawless & mint. Currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrinkwrap. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #3456]
