Dive, She Said

Lawrence, KS: Hog Oil Press, 2000. First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. Inscribed by Jim McCrary to Charles & Pamela Plymell. A collection of poems by Jim McCrary, the noted poet & educator who was a friend of William S. Burroughs; a member of WSB's family of researchers, editors & assistants at Burroughs Communications led by James Grauerholz in Lawrence, Kansas. Somewhat eccentrically divided into two sections, the first with eight poems; the second with a single poem presented as a series of correspondence between "Dub & Neva" & a "Footnote" of thoughtful prose-poetry. Front cover photograph of McCrary diving into the water at a lush Mexican resort by Susan Ashline. On title page, McCrary has hand-written: "The support from you/ & Pam these last/ 30!! years means/ a lot- you know that./ (signed) Jim McCrary/ Early Summer/ Lawrence KS/ "on the banks of/ the muddy Kaw..." The recipients of this warm inscription are Charles Plymell, the great American poet, printer, publisher & Legendary Literary Outlaw; & his wife & collaborator Pamela Beach Plymell. The Plymells also were friends & publishers of WSB, another part of his big happy family along with McCrary. We obtained this from our good friends the Plymells themselves. A unique rarity with rich association & provenance. In fine condition with only mild rubbing, light creasing & occasional spotting to front, back covers & stapled spine; mild wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of same; light but profuse spotting at upper edge of text block, much less at side & lower edges. Interior very fine with only small creases at lower corners of a few page leaves. Fine. [Item #3536]
