New York, NY: Angel Hair Books, 1968. Limited First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. "Hello. May I be alive in your dream of unconsciousness?" (first sentence/ entire first page) An early work by Tom Clark (1941-2018), the brilliant & prolific poet, editor & biographer associated with but distinct from many Beat-&-Beyond writers & schools; in collaboration with his contemporary Ron Padgett, the New York School master poet who is still with us. With front cover artwork by acclaimed artist Jim Dine, including facsimile of Dine's hand-written signature & date (1967). A production of Angel Hair Books, the imprint of Anne Waldman & Lewis Warsh at the fertile apex of the lower east side NYC independent publication phenomenon. As noted in colophon, this is one of an "ordinary edition" of 500 copies, i.e. a first limited trade edition. Large chapbook-format in stapled wrappers. A classic Clark-Padgett-1960s NYC collectible, in very fine condition with only light rubbing & a few short, faint crease-scratches to front, back covers & stapled spine; very light wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; mild rubbing, browning & occasional spotting to edges of text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps, small creases at upper corners of page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3544]
