Original Postcard

Italy: News Productions, Circa 2001. First Edition Thus. Single Card. Inscribed & signed by Michael McClure to Kevin Ring. A postcard with photograph on recto of Michael McClure (1932-2020), the great primary poet of the Beat Generation, San Francisco Renaissance & beyond who recently passed away, with his colleague Allen Ginsberg, Founding Father of the Beat Generation. The image dates to June 1968, & depicts the two legendary poets sitting on a floor behind a microphone at some venue in San Francisco, playing instruments & singing together. On verso is a hand-written message from McClure to Kevin Ring, publisher of Beat Scene magazine & many wonderful Beat-related chapbooks: "Kevin,/ ALOHA from/ 1968 (signed) Michael." There is also McClure's hand-writing of Ring's address at the Beat Scene Press headquarters in England & several "airmail" references. Postmarked September 1, 2001 at Oakland, CA over four beautiful USA postage stamps depicting different flowers. A unique McClure collectible; from an iconic Beat figure to one of our greatest current torch-bearers who has dedicated his life to the motto on every issue of Beat Scene: "This is the Beat Generation." In very fine condition with only very slight rubbing to surfaces; a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners. Very Fine. [Item #3636]
