Cherry Valley, NY: Cherry Valley Editions, 2017. First Trade Edition. Softcover. "Charles Plymell's Camposque Virentis is a masterpiece of wind cutting across the plains, open highways, honest country music, and gospel tunes of sod and blood. It is a tribute to a mother like no other, a mother from a different time, a different world." (from W. K. Stratton quote, back cover) A prose-poem memoir-tribute to his mother & her milieu by Charles Plymell, the great American poet, printer, publisher & Legendary Literary Outlaw whom we're honored to note is our good friend & mentor. With many vintage photographs of his beloved mother before his birth in pre-Statehood Oklahoma Territory; & with himself & his siblings in rural Kansas. The title "Camposque Virentis" is Latin for "verdant plains" & was taken from a quoted line in Lucretius' De Rerum Natura. With laudatory blurbs by artist-journalist Sharon Anderson & noted author W.K. Stratton (quoted above) on back cover. A production of Charles & his wife Pamela Beach Plymell's venerable Cherry Valley Editions imprint. As noted in colophon, this is from an "open edition" of which 100 copies were numbered, signed & with a tipped-in photograph. This is not one of the special copies, & was published on July 5, 2017 per rear endpaper. A late, very enjoyable & rewarding Plymell collectible. In very fine condition with only tiny bumps at some corners of front, back covers & spine; otherwise substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #3700]
