Santa Barbara, CA: Cadmus Editions, 1981. Limited First Edition. Softcover. Signed by Tom Clark. "Perhaps it's because it's such a threatening space/ what with its great expanse of unaffectionate sky/ that workers in this boom region travel from/ job to job with their housing intact/ & never further than ten feet behind them." ("Wyoming") A collection of short poems & prose-poems by Tom Clark (1941-2018), the brilliant New York School-&-Beyond poet, novelist, editor & biographer whose prolific legacy embodies our category of "The Prolific & Underappreciated." All the poems relate to Clark's travels through & observations of various localities in the American High Plains region. Dedicated to & with an introduction by Ed Dorn, the late great Black Mountain School epic poet. Chapbook in sewn binding with photo-reproduction of painting by Clark (also a talented artist) affixed to front cover. One of a limited edition of 75 (stamp-) numbered copies signed by Clark below reproduction of his self-portrait drawing on page preceding colophon, this is copy No. 47/75. A beautiful production & a rare, desirable collectible in the Clark canon. In very fine condition with only a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine; slight fading to spine (not including strip with title & author affixed thereon); mild spotting to upper edge of text block. Publisher's clear plastic jacket fine with very slight rubbing to front, back covers, spine & flaps; one small chip at lower left edge of front cover; slight irregularity of front flap right edge which is shorter than rear & may have been cut short.
